1 | Did God mention his/her gender in bible? | John 8:54 | Bows44 | 149196
Read Mark 12:20-27, then the creation story. And John 4:24. I think you will find that God is neither male or female in the human sense. He is a Spirit and has both female and male attributes. It is a grammar thing to use he. When He is protecting, providing, correcting He is acting as a father, so these are considered to be male attributes. When he is nurturing, teaching, encouraging these are things mothers are known for and therefore these can be considered to be female attributes. This doesn't mean that fathers can't or don't teach. Or that mothers can't or don't correct her children. Studying languages with more obvious masculine and feminine words than English tend to make this concept easier to understand. However, we are created in the image of God. Male and female created he them. Both males and females are in the image of God. When we get to heaven we also will no longer be male or female in the human sense of the word. Kind of a hard concept to grasp, but clearly laid out in scripture. This is a complex concept, not easily explained in this forum, but hopefully this helps some. :-)

God is always Noun Masculine ... El, Eloah, Elohim, Yahweh, Adon, Adonai, Theos and Kurios. Bows44, greetings The pronoun always used for each member of the Trinity is masculine. Studying the Biblical languages prove that God is masculine. To make Him something else goes against what the Bible says. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-12 comes to mind about the female and male attributes ... which Paul (a male) and at least one exhibited. Genesis 1:27 says, "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them" ... but, that still doesn't make God a female. Searcher |

3 | Did God mention his/her gender in bible? | John 8:54 | Bows44 | 149231
correct...God is not female. But neither is he male. God is a Spirit and has no sex organs, therefore no sex. It is the sex organs that make us distinctly male or female. Our spirits are who we really are and we shall be as the angels when our bodies are changed in the twinkling of an eye at Jesus' return. In Heaven there is no marrying and giving in marriage, no procreation. (Mark 12:25) Study the Proverbs about Wisdom which is one of the seven spirits of God (Rev. 3:1) and Wisdom is referred to as she and Lady Wisdom. I agree as to Paul exhibiting both male and female attributes. AS I said before, men have predominately male attributes and women have predominately female attributes, but both can and do have both. Mature Christians such as Paul will display both as the situation calls for the same way God does. It is not a male/female thing. It is a Spirit of God thing. :-) |
