1 | Was Israel saved, or not? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 34993
No. Israel rejected Christ, so blindness in part has happened to Israel untill the fullness of the gentiles has come in. Rev 7 shows the 144,000 sealed on earth, before the white robed multitude from the tribulation are seen standing before the throne. This part I can answer with certainty. Now, Paul says all Israel will be saved. John writes 144,000. So here's the followup question Is all Israel saved or only those to whom the blindness is removed? Rom 11:7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Rom 11:25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." Rev 7:4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed: To reconcile the two, one could assume that "all Israel" means the entirety of the nation, 12,000 from each tribe, 144,000 in all. So not every one but from the entire nation. These will be those who recognize the Messiah has come and is come again. |

2 | Was Israel saved, or not? | John 6:49 | zach† | 35027
Dear Greg; Excuse me for interupting this discussion, but here is some scripture concerning this topic for your perusal. 1Cor. 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 1Co 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 1Co 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. 12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. In Christ zach† |

3 | Was Israel saved, or not? | John 6:49 | Greg Martin | 36731
Zach, I did not get your point at first but now I see the connection. Not everyone who follows Christ will be saved. Only those who believe with their heart and give it to Him. Thus they may have followed Christ, but most did not obey, and some chose against Him. (Ex 32) Cain gave his offering but it was not acceptable. why? Because it was not with his heart. Many will come saying Lord, Lord but not all will enter heaven (Matt 7:21-24 Luke 13:25) The difference is the heart. |
