1 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | Rowdy | 130633
Yes, I believe in the simple words of Christ and his official representatives such as His beloved disciple and Apostle Peter 1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 1 Pet 3:19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, 1 Pet 3:20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. 1 Pet 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Verse 21 is most clear and powerful. You see it's NOT the actual water that saves; it's the act of submitting to God and His Terms and Conditions. I don't see how God's Word could be any clearer. Again, I only appeal to those truly interested in following God's Word in its simplicity. God bless. Rowdy |

2 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | ROGER459 | 130643
"The Holy Spirit indwelling the Beleiver" is in one word, "SALVATION!" The Spirit comes upon Believing, in response to John 7:39, as seen in Gal 3:2. Upon Belief, Real Scritpural Belief, the Holy Spirit, "Baptises the person into the Body of Christ, according to 1Corinthians 12:13!" That happens when the transaction takes place, and that Believer is Sealed with the Holy Spirit! "Water Cannot Do that!" Then perhaps you will see in the "One Baptism of (Eph 4:5) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, "A Spiritual Transaction" and not one of Water! There is a denomination called "the Church of Christ!" I spent months studying their doctrine. Bottom line, they believe that the Blood of Chirst has no effect on the persons sins, "Till they are Water Baptized!" That doctrine is right from Hell, as Paul said in Gal 1:8-9. I even asked what if a member of the COC falls away, and repents? I was told that they are Re-Baptized! And if they fall away again, or move to another area and "Cannot produce a letter-of-Baptism, what then? They are Baptized Again? Which of those are the "One Baptism of Eph 4:5? The persond could not answer! For those that still believe that Water can save, what did Paul say in 1Corinthians 1:13-18 and especilly V17! Did Christ send Paul to Preach the Gosple or to Baptize. They are not the same, as he indicated in these verses! You see, "SALVATION" is the Holy Spirit! Nothing More, Nothing Less! Romans 8:9 seals that, If you do not have the Spirit, You do not belong to God, "even if you have been water batized!" Ephesians 2:10 says, NOT OF WORKS! Is water batism a Work? It is surely "Not Grace!" Then it is a Work! The Holy Spirit through Paul said it, (Rom 11:6) And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Baptism is definitely a Work. Salvation is by Grace, Eph 2:8-9-10! Water Baptism is only an "OUTWARD TESTIMONY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! NOTHING MORE!" Hear the words of Paul again, (Gal 4:6) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. IMAGINE THIS, AND WITHOUT WATER BAPTISM, THAT MY FRIEND IS THE SAVING GRACE OF GOD! PLAIN AND SIMPLE! Thank you! |

3 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | Rowdy | 130659
I notice that you don't have any direct verse that speaks or counters what Peter says in 1 Pet 3:21. I can only say that many people everywhere misunderstand different aspects of baptism as you've described above. All human beings should only be baptized the one single baptism as mentioned throughout the NT. After that point, all christians are able to partake of God's continuous willingness to forgive if we but repent after each and every known sin. That's one reason I repent each and every day of my life to cover for those sins I don't know I committed as well as those I do know about. You see, the only real differene between christians and other sinners is the ability to call God, the Creator of the Universe our Father and enjoy immediate access to His Forgiveness and Grace whenever we need it. Just because one group of people misunderstand the true and genuine aspects of baptism, that doesn't make it any less true or any less required to comply with His Terms and Conditions. We are but servants/salves without a hope of going anywhere but Hell unless we comply with His Commands. I'm still interested in what you can quote from God's Word that counters Peter's God inspired Words above. God bless. Rowdy |

4 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | ROGER459 | 130676
(1Pe 3:21) The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: HERE IS THE KEY! (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) THE ACTUAL ACT OF BAPTISM, But the Answer of a CLEAR conscience Toward GOD! I have a question for you? You say you confess your sins daily? What about the Sin of 2Chron 12:14 and Psalms 90:8? Thank you! |

5 | does one need to be baptised to be saved | John 3:5 | Rowdy | 130731
Copied for reference: 2 Chron 12:13 Thus King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. Now Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king; and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. His mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. 14And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the LORD. and 7For we have been consumed by Your anger, And by Your wrath we are terrified. 8You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. 9For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh. I must admit, I really don't understand how these two scriptures enter into this discussion as they're both from the OT and as most everyone knows the NT outranks the OT in current authority per Matt 28. But I'll try to be gracious and respond. In the first case, King Rehoboam never had any intention of ever obeying God and never did as far as we can tell from God's Word so he should be looked as every other heathen who willfully and knowingly actually CHOOSES to defy God's Will. As far as we are concerned he is definitely not one to follow as an example. As for the latter scripture, this seems to be and we have no reason to doubt this as being an actual prayer of Moses. Although Moses was NOT allowed to enter the Promised Land of Canaan and was limited to look at it from a far off mountain, God did take the time and trouble to bury Moses Himself. So it does seem pretty conclusive that Moses for the most part led a life as a good example to us as christians. That is he tried to give God his obedience but he was definitely human like King David, Apostle Peter and so many others. We're all human and we all, especially in this day and age, have an extreme need for God's saving Grace and Forgiveness. This is made a little clearer in 1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Again, let me say it all boils down to our attitude. If our heart (really our mind, essence of man) is right, then "God will meet us halfway." He will help us stay true, genuine and clean from the burden of sin IF we'll just put our faith and trust in Him. And again, I don't see how I could possibly be any clearer on this subject. If you really are interested in following God's Will and His Word, do pray about this and re-read these scriptures with a truly open mind and an open heart. I do hope God blesses you with understanding. Rowdy |
