1 | Why can God can love the world, not us? | John 3:16 | FredaP | 86457 | ||
Since the bible clearly states that God loved the world, Why can't I? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. —1 John 2:15 John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[1] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. |

Let's say that you are married to an alcoholic husband, who also happens to be abusive. Suppose that your husband has been so abusive that he's tried to take your life, on several occasions. You still love him, but you've got little children and, for their sake, you flee. You also leave a note, telling the abusive husband that you love him, but cannot live with him until he commits to stop drinking and abusing you. Now imagine that your mom or dad, two people who say they love you, take sides with your abusive husband, and insist that you return to him, along with your little ones. Can they possibly love you, as their daughter, if they would allow you and their grandchildren to return to a situation that could get all of you killed? God loves us, but He is holy and He cannot tolerate sin. John 3:16 makes it very clear that those who do not accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, by believing in Him, will perish. By loving the world, you are aligning yourself with sin (what God hates) and you will perish, with the world (i.e., those who reject Jesus). The above scenario, may have been a pretty lousy analogy, but I pray that your question has been answered. God bless you! |
