2 | Non-denominational theology? | John 3:16 | justme | 65011
SSprin: Having been in three different Baptist denominations, and now i am in a non-denominational church, I can speak with personal experience. By no case am I an expert on this subject. I believe Hank answered you quite well. I would say the Beliefe in Trinity would also be included in Baptist beliefs. I attend Calvary Chapel, We are non-denominational, or at least that is what we are called. However it is my (and only my) opinion that there is a tie to the first Calvary Chapel which was started by Chuck Smith. There is a map and website for all the Calvary Chapels in the USA. In order for your Pastor to be recognized as a Calvary Chapel Pastor there are requirements. So I see very little difference except we do not send money into a central organization like a mission board or general head office. American Baptist have Valley Forge, PA for insistance. Souther Baptist have Nashville, Ten, as their head general offices. For me I go where I can and grow to be equipped for ministry. I want my family to be challanged to grow in our family life as well. As far as theology goes, non-denominationalism has no theology that I am aware of, that is much different than any other church I have ever been in, mainly three different kinds of Baptist. This is my experience perhaps others would have a very different slant on it. justme |

3 | Non-denominational theology? | John 3:16 | Lionstrong | 65044
Greetings Justme, "No theology" is the myth of so called non-denominationalism. Any affirmation about God (no matter how simple or profound) is a theology or part of a theology. Even the newest believer has theology, because he must know something of God and His Christ in order to believe and be saved. Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Peace, |

Lionstrong: Your point is exactlly what I was saying. Everyone has a theology. Even nonbelievers have a theology. Non-denominationalists as far as I am concerned, do not have a "theology of nondenominationlisn" I pointed out that the church we attend, even though they say they are non-denominational are most certianly tied or bound together, if in no other way, than to be gathered in the same belief of non-denomination. When Pastors must be acceped by a group of non-denominational pastors, that proves they have a tie that binds. I am only stating it as I see it, and I am sure others would strongly disagree with my statement. Our pastor is a Didpensational Premillennialists. Although he is not dogmatic, and does point out differing views, he is one that does a lot of counting of weeks in Daniel and Revelation, and connecting of other books and verses. He is polite and listens to differing views and I consider his teachings from his view point, worth listening to and consideration. I see flaws in all end time views. I doubt that any one theory has is all nailed down. I would say as Hank Hanegraaff, that I am a work in progress. Last week Hank had Gary DeMar on, I heard enough that I have ordered his books on end time theology. I would like to really know what he thinks. I like to look out side the box, as it were. The verse you use is the key to understanding the good news. What matters if we are for or against denominations if we have not made Christ Lord? God bless you brother. justme |
