1 | Reasons for Rejecting our Witness | John 1:7 | Searcher56 | 22036 | ||
Scripture ... Matt 5:13-16; Luke 2:52; John 9; Eph 4; 1 The 3:12, 5:11ff ... Nolan, we cannot do much about 1) - 2) and Steve's 4) - 5) ... but we can do something about 3). We need to follow His example of gaining favoer with God (first) and man (w/o compromising standards) Luke 2:52, Matt 5:13-16. We need to be different ... 1 The 3:12 says we are to love each other and others ... then starting in 5:11, there is a list of what we need to do for/ to one another. But how do we do? My vision is to have the Church on fire, like the burning bush ... so it attracts people to see the wonder of God working in the people. Also, see Ephesians 4. Satan will put roadblocks, for it is a battle. So on the others, we need to pray that God opens the path for people. Thank you both Reformer Joe and Searcher! You have both provided some excellent verses to read for providing reasons why people reject our witness as Christians. I was reading and thinking of Galatians 6:8 when considering the "blindness" of those who reject a Christian witness (some of whom are even in my own family). Galatians 6:8 "For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." - Nolan |
