1 | Gospels are OT books? | John 1:1 | stjohn | 211637
Hi MJH Here's another to add the three reasons that Bradk has given not to put ourselves BACK under the law. because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; Romans 3:20-24 Did you get that? being JUSTIFIDE as a GIFT by His GRACE in the REDEMTION which is in CHRIST JESUS and another You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain? So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU." So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM." Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH." Gal 3:1-11 My question is, do you abide by ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM-?? Really-?? because if you don't abide be ALL the things written in the book of the law to perfome them, then you are as it is written CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT-!! Well, what is it? Do you? Can you honestly say that you abide by ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM-?? Because if you think you can, then you better do it ALL-!! |

See my post to BradK.... I don't disagree with anything that you said. Most of it is Scripture so that is somewhat easy. If you are trying to be justified apart from Faith, then the curse of the Law (many many curses for those who disobey listed) would apply. But now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. The Galatians were not being yelled at by Paul because they had the gull to follow the Laws of God. They were being yelled at because they were accepting the idea that they needed to go through this ritual conversion in order to get saved...to be IN the group. If salvation comes through works of the law, then where is faith? It is gone, and then we are without hope. I desire to follow the Law because I love Jesus and want to obey His commandments. While not perfectly, I desire to live as he would desire, and trust in him that he paid the penalty for my transgressions. In the world to come I will be welcomed on his account. I think you're confusing me with someone who thinks you need to follow the Law in order to be saved. Nothing could be further from the truth. MJH |

If you would permit me to interject one point and it is this: The 10 commandments given to Moses on Mt. Horeb was fulfilled completely by 2 laws given by Jesus and he deleted 1. The remaining 9 are fulfilled by Love the Lord with all thy heart mind sould and body and Love thy neighbor as thyself. If yo look at the 9 mosaic laws they are still covered by the 2 of Jesus. If you love me the way you love yourself you would not steal from me, seduce my wife, kill me etc. etc. and if you love god then you would have no other god before him. We are now dealing with a lot more commands than 10. I believe there are over 335 commands to Christians in the New Testament and Jesus expects you to follow them as best you can through the power of the Holy Spirit. There are no free rides. There was an old contract and now there is a new contract but this time he sent us a helper to be able to live it. Baby steps.

How to do you reconcile that statement with Deut 12:32? And that verse should be the first verse of Chapter 13 which goes on to state "If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, [Jesus did this] and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, [it did] . . . “ Chapter 13 describes just what you said. So if Jesus deleted 1 as you say, and added several, then we seem to have a serious problem. He would be classifies as a false prophet. Beyond that, it seems odd that any law would need to be deleted. What would the purpose be for God to change his mind about 1 or several laws? And the Mosaic Law has far more than 10 specific laws. Also, the law to love God and love thy neighbor is from the Mosaic Law which Jesus quotes, not new laws. All during the first century there has been among the sages the question, "How many laws sum up the whole of the Law?" They quote the prophets reducing the summation of the law from 613 to 10 down to 1. The last “one law” that summed up the whole was "the righteous shall live by faith." Jesus of course summed it up in the two most common in his day, and Peter and Paul summed them up to just Love. Of course one needs to ask, “What does it mean to Love?” and then you go backwards right into spelling out the Law again. In short, just because the Law can be summed up in two laws, one law, or even one word, does not mean the laws stop. (Mat 5:17-19) MJH |

I think you may be confusing the moral law with the rabbinacle law. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. Rom 14:4-5 Again, Titus 3:9 |

I beleive it was Jesus that told us not to observe days or am I mistaken and the point of Jesus being a false prophet is obsurd. He is,was and always will be God He can erase anything he wants. Would you pull your donkey out of a pit on the sabboth?

By the way, welcome to the forum. (I think I noticed your new?) You'll have to find the text that says you need to wash you hands before eating..... Anyway, I never said if you fail to follow a command you go to hell. We are saved not by our ability to follow commands, but by Faith in Jesus. We follow commands because we love him. So don't quite :-) your hands are fine...I hope. MJH |

Ya know if you were leasing an apartment from me for a year and at the end of the year I changed the lease terms amount of paymen, method of payment, you have to now pay for your own electricity and you sign up....why on earth would you continue to constantly read the 2 leases simultaneously to try to understand the new contract. The old contract is "HISTORY" and the new contract is prevalent. You are confusing yourself. The bible is divided dispensationaly and that is where the Jews/ Jahova's and other sects miss the boat. I like the old testament for it's history (5 Books) other than that i am glad I live in this dispensation. I personnally don't like snakes that come out of flames or being swallowed by the ground. I suppose God changed his mind on that punishment...figured he would run out of people before long I suppose.
