One God in 3 persons-not 1 God in 1 person 'Modalism 'Modalism is probably the most common theological error concerning the nature of God. It is a denial of the Trinity which states that God is a single person who, throughout biblical history, has revealed Himself in three modes, or forms. Thus, God is a single person who first manifested himself in the mode of the Father in Old Testament times. At the incarnation, the mode was the Son. After Jesus' ascension, the mode is the Holy Spirit. These modes are consecutive and never simultaneous. In other words, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit never all exist at the same time, only one after another. Modalism denies the distinctiveness of the three persons in the Trinity even though it retains the divinity of Christ. 'Present day groups that hold to forms of this error are the United Pentecostal and United Apostolic Churches. They deny the Trinity, teach that the name of God is Jesus, and require baptism for salvation. These modalist churches often accuse Trinitarians of teaching three gods. This is not what the Trinity is. The correct teaching of the Trinity is one God in three eternal coexistent persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.' ____________________ www.carm.org/heresy/modalism.htm |

2 | Trinity | John 1:1 | Noveta | 160734 | ||
This is the intepretation that I understand also. There is one God in three persons. "God the father", "God the Son" , "God the Holy Spirit". Co-eternal and Co-Equal and distinct (three individuals) There are scriptures that show the Farther is GOD Matt. 16:16,17; John 6:27,44,45; 20:17; Rom. 1:7; 1 Cor. 1:3; 2 Cor. 1:2; Eph. 1:3; etc. There are scriptures that show the Son is God John 1:1,14; 20:28,29; Phil. 2:6-8; Heb. 1:8,9; Col. 2:9; Isa. 9:6. There are scriptures that show the Holy Spirit is God Acts 5:3,4; Eph. 4:30; 1 Thess. 4:8. Here are scriptures that show they are distinct Hebrews 1:5 , 2 Corinthians 1:3 You almost have to accept the Bible for what it says. There are many things to me that are not explained clear and sometimes hard to interpret. But this topic is repeatly revealed and I think one of the most important. Understanding and excepting , not leaning on your understanding but accept what the Bible is saying. God the Farther can talk to God the Son because they are distinct individuals but yet they are equal because they are one. Same is for God the Holy Spirit, John 14:16,26; 15:26; 16:7,13-15. I hoped I have helped and not hurt. This is the first time I have attempted to repond to a question rather than asking a question. Hopefully I have given you the right scriptures in the right place. But I felt that I needed to express what has been taught to me. |
