1 | "We saw His glory?" | John 1:14 | Ray | 119425
Hi Emmaus, Although your verses would appear to be good comparisons to most of us, I do not believe that the glory of God should be equated with the signs that He did. In John 2:11 His glory was manifested, but I think that we can better compare it to John 10:38 where it says, "though you do not believe Me, believe the works..." The importance of believing in Him is evident. Jesus wants them/us to know and understand that "the Father is in Me and I in the Father" (John 10:38). But the people said in verses 33 and 36 that He is blaspheming. John 10:33, "The Jews answered Him, 'For a good work we do not stone you, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man [NKJ, Man], make Yourself out to be God." The glory of Christ is that He was a Man who made Himself out to be God. John the baptist bore witness of this Man in John 1:15 and of His fullness we have all received. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." We today behold His glory and disagree that He was blaspheming. John 10:37, "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works,..." No one is able to snatch us from the Father's hand. John 10:29,30. From the heart, Ray |

2 | "We saw His glory?" | John 1:14 | Emmaus | 119426
Ray, I was just answering the question in the context in which it was asked. Here is the glory trail in John. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 2:11 This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. John 5:41 "I do not receive glory from men; John 5:44 "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God? John 7:18 "He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. John 8:50 "But I do not seek My glory; there is One who seeks and judges. John 8:54 Jesus answered, "If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say, 'He is our God'; John 9:24 So a second time they called the man who had been blind, and said to him, "Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner." John 11:4 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it." John 11:40 Jesus *said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?" John 12:41 These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him. John 17:5 "Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:22 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; John 17:24 "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 3 | "We saw His glory?" | John 1:14 | Ray | 119442
Hi Emmaus, Thank you for the "glory trail" in John. I think that one of the best pairing of verses and passages for the thought that you had expressed would be these: John 10:32, "Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the (Father); for which of them are you stoning Me?" 33 The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a **Man, make Yourself/ out to be God." John 17:24, "...be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold (My) glory, which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world. 25 "O righteous **Father, although the world has not known Thee/, yet I have known Thee; and these have known that (Thou) didst send Me;" These passages compare the mystery of how the righteous Father could come to earth in the likeness of men and become a Man. John 17:1, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy (Son), that the Son may glorify Thee,..." From the heart, Ray |
