AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 1:14 ¶ And the Word (Christ) became flesh, and lived among us; and we [actually] saw His glory, glory as belongs to the [One and] only begotten Son of the Father, [the Son who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, who is] full of grace and truth (absolutely free of deception). Subject: "We saw His glory?" |
Bible Note: Hi Emmaus, Although your verses would appear to be good comparisons to most of us, I do not believe that the glory of God should be equated with the signs that He did. In John 2:11 His glory was manifested, but I think that we can better compare it to John 10:38 where it says, "though you do not believe Me, believe the works..." The importance of believing in Him is evident. Jesus wants them/us to know and understand that "the Father is in Me and I in the Father" (John 10:38). But the people said in verses 33 and 36 that He is blaspheming. John 10:33, "The Jews answered Him, 'For a good work we do not stone you, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man [NKJ, Man], make Yourself out to be God." The glory of Christ is that He was a Man who made Himself out to be God. John the baptist bore witness of this Man in John 1:15 and of His fullness we have all received. John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." We today behold His glory and disagree that He was blaspheming. John 10:37, "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works,..." No one is able to snatch us from the Father's hand.
