1 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11570
Refer to John 19:26-27 - Jesus gave last instructions at the cross to His mother and John. Can you tell what His message meant?
2 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Searcher56 | 11643
John Hermes, His mother and John are probably the two He loved the most, as a human. If you are looking for a message for us, I'd say we need to look out for our loved ones, as we prepare to die. It is not about money, but relationships. Steve |

3 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Makarios | 11645
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." The Lord's love is unconditional for everyone, and He made the same such provisions (as He did here on the cross for Mary) for us all by dying for us on the cross. |

4 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Searcher56 | 11648
Noaln, good point. However, John 3:16 is about His love as God. My thought of 19;26 is His human love. Why doe it say "the disciple whom He loved," wheh loves them (us) all? Steve
5 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Makarios | 11654
The phrase "the disciple whom He loved" is only found in the Gospel of John. It is clear that John used this phrase to describe himself, since he was the author of that book. This is not to say that Jesus loved John more than any of the others, but this is a special designation of the Apostle John. "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me".. (John 21:22) Nolan |

Noaln - I understand. It is a minor difference. Steve
7 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Makarios | 11665
Right. And one should not get caught up in "who does He love more" or "who's the greatest".. For Jesus' reply to this was that he bent down to wash the disciples' feet- showing them that the 'greatest' is the one who is a 'servant'..
8 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11676
Every time I read these verses I could not help but think that Jesus commended us (mankind as represented by John) to the care of His Mother. On the other hand, He admonished us (mankind as represented by John) to hearken to His mother. Why do I get this idea? Is it possible?
9 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Makarios | 11678
Good observation.. Jesus is clearly speaking to John here, but you view this as a burden that all mankind must carry. If this is so, then what is the 'burden' here and how is it based on the life of Jesus or what Jesus did on the cross? Can we continue to 'care' for Mary even though Mary is dead? I'm not sure how you can attribute Jesus' message to all mankind, since there is nothing in Scripture to show that He was speaking to or referring to anyone other than John.
10 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | John Hermes | 11809
Hello Nolan. Tim Moran wrote that after Jesus' resurrection, all believers who die go immediately to be with Christ. So where is Mary now that we could "care" for her if we wanted to?
11 | What is Jesus' message to us? | John 19:26 | Makarios | 11834
Good question John! You have answered your own question, my Catholic friend. :-)
