1 | Jesus Died for all, why speak in parable | John 17:9 | flyman172 | 212179
Hello BradK, I have now received many answers and I will try to summarize. For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Even though God wants everyone to be saved, it will not happen because not everyone will believe, therefore Jesus does not need to be clear, which is why He speaks in parables. As He says, if He didn't speak in parables people might understand, repent and then be forgiven. Since it is God's will that only a few will make it to heaven, there really is no need for Jesus to speak so that everyone can understand. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for everyone, however some of it is only for the Deciples, the Jews, or the Gentlies. I do want to be saved to be with God in heaven but how can I be sure when on the outside I claim to understand, but on the inside I am still unsure of the meanings? What if I am not on God's list to be saved? flyman |

2 | Jesus Died for all, why speak in parable | John 17:9 | skccab | 212182
Shalom Flyman, Change the word "believe" or "have faith" to "trust" and maybe that will help. Do you TRUST Yeshua/Jesus to do what He says He will do? If you do "trust" then you are among the saved. A human child believes daddy can do what he says about providing food, housing and clothing, a human child has faith that daddy can do those things, but a human child ALSO trusts that his daddy will do those things. Three different words with 3 different meanings. The human child trusts and so does nothing else to help daddy do those things which he has promised to do, in fact, the little human child can do nothing to help his daddy fulfil those promises. A person who TRUSTS Jesus/God to do His promises knows he can do nothing to help, except trust and receive. I hope this helps you to understand that you are indeed saved if you trust in Jesus. 3 | Jesus Died for all, why speak in parable | John 17:9 | flyman172 | 212184
Dear Cheri, Your kind words of comfort are greatly appreciated. Thank you. I don't know why my brain keeps on churning and churning with questions. I know my thought process was given to me by God and I know He says to study, but why when I study I come up with so many questions? I do believe, I do have faith, and I do trust, but I also do have an intense desire to know. Isn't there a bible verse where God says to study to show thyself approved and to be able to answer others as to what and why we believe? I interpret that to mean that I must know in order to be a witness for my Lord. It is not a matter of just trusting, for me it is a matter of the "why" as well. Why if "God so loved the world," if "Jesus died for the sins of the world," and why if we are to "preach the gospel to all the world," my question was why would Jesus want to speak in parables? The answer I got was that since God had already determined whose names are written on the book of life, it didn't matter one way or the other. I just have to trust, as you say, that I am on that list. Praise God. flyman |

Hello Flyman: And once again welcome to the forum! All I can say flyman is; "God bless your heart!" Keep studying His word, don't worry about the questions, questions are mostly good, but the enemy will try to use them to deceive you to think you are not saved. Just keep trusting God and stand on His word! And you are absolutely right; You wrote: "Isn't there a bible verse where God says to study to show thyself approved and to be able to answer others as to what and why we believe?" Paul writes in 2 Tim 2:7-16 "Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned. For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory. It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us; If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness," I hope you stay around and study God's awesome word with us! Here are some other websites that may also help you in your understanding. http://www.ewordtoday.com/comments/ http://www.gotquestions.org/index.html http://www.monergism.com/ http://www.blueletterbible.org/study/ Thats just a few, there are many others that folks are happy to share with you; Just ask! Remember though that Scripture doesn't give us all the answers to all our questions. Sometimes, it's just not for us to know some of the answers, or He would have told us. God bless John |
