God's day to you, flyman172 and welcome to the SBF, Jesus had just finished teeling the Parable of the Sower (Mat 13:3-9), when his disciples asked Him why He spoke in parable. He said, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted" (v 11) ... "Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled" (vv 13-14). He quotes Isaiah 6:9-10, which God told Isaiah would happen to him. In verse 9, He said "He who has ears, let him hear" ... then sid the 12 were blessed becuase their ears hear, and eyes see ... which was the issue for those who heard and saw Isaiah. The He explaine the parable, where He mentions hearing (vv 18-13). Cross reference (Mar 4:1-12/13-20, Luk 8:4-10/11-15, Rom 11:7-10). Searcher |
