Hi graceful, When you compare John 14:25 with John 14:17, who do you think the Holy Spirit is? When a person of your church traditon is filled with the Holy Spirit what does that entail to your mind? From the heart, Ray |

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. He is the power of God. In Genesis 1:2 He moved across the face of the waters. God spoke the Word (John 1:1:1) and the Holy Spirit did the work. God the Father, God the son (Word) God the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was the step from being a carnal minded Christian, a believer who saw God working from the external and did not know Him in His supernatural work. I went from being 'God with me enlightened' to 'God in me enlightened'. It is the difference in seeing Corinthians and Acts and Mark 16:15-20 as current relative reality instead of history. When I compare John 14:25 with John 14:17 I see this... Jesus was Holy Spirit filled and led by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:16 Matthew 4:1 Matthew 12:27-29 Vs 25 says "These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But in verse 17 He speaks of the Holy Spirit not as himself, He differentiates between the two. He says the when He leaves, the Holy Spirit will come. When He says you know Him because He abides with you, He is speaking of the presence of the Holy Spirit within Him. Summary.. Jesus was filled with, led by and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God. His works and words revealed the nature of the Holy Spirit to the disciples and all who desired to see. He is telling the disciples that they will know Him because He has already been with them. They will recognize Him. God bless |

Hi graceful, Thank you for your excellent answer and testimony. I know that God will continue to use you. I want to look at your Scriptures so that we can see how we might differ in our understanding of our triune God. For I believe that we differ primarily in how we view the power of the Holy Spirit. I don't see the Holy Spirit as the Person that does all the work. He is another Helper just as Jesus is our Helper and God is our Helper. And I believe that Jesus is at the right hand of Power. Mark 14:62, "And Jesus said, 'I am; and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." 1) Matthew 3:16: I believe that the Holy Spirit comes "upon" a person when there is a task to be accomplished. 2) Matthew 4:1: I believe that Jesus was led by the Spirit just as you do. 3) Matthew 12:27: I believe that Jesus cast out demons by the spirit of God. 4) John 14:17: You are right in sensing that I believe that Jesus is the Holy Spirit also. I put an extra pronoun in my personal copy right now, and wonder if you would comment on it. Here is how I interpret it, "that is, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him bacause He abides with you and *He will be in you." I add a pronoun in verse 11 also and you might compare verse 17 with it, "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me; otherwise believe *Me because of the works themselves." 5) I also believe that Jesus was filled with holy spirit. I wonder if that is not what we are filled with as born-again believers. John 3:5-34 I appreciate your considering these things. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Ray: 1. I believe God indwells, from a variety of scripture, bu I will use John 14:17 ...because He abides with you and will be in you. I agree there are times when He 'comes upon' for a specific task, but I do not recognize 'coming upon' as external. 4. At times Jesus refered to Himself as the Father, (here in John...Philip said "show us the father" and Jesus said Have I been with you so long time, and yet you have not known me? He said I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Verses 8-10 Note verse 23 Jesus answered and said to him (Judas) If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and WE will come to him and make OUR abode with him. I also agree with your pronouns in vs 11 and 17. Holy Spirit power? That will take some time. But as I do not see the trinity as 3 in on with singleness of purpose, I can't see that it matters a lot. When the Holy Spirit manifest His will in the natural, one can't truly seperate His manifestations from God or Jesus, even if He is the power. When Jesus said, "all power (authority( has been given to me, both in heaven and in earth" did He usurp the authority of the Father? No, because it was God the Father's authority to give. I do believe the Holy Spirit is God in man to carry on the work of Jesus under His authority which is under the authority of the Father. John 14:11-12. Because He went to the Father, the Father sent the Comforter to empower us to do the works of Jesus and greater works. Sadly I believe we do not receive the fullness of this truth because we are AFRAID due to religion teaches us that to believe we can do the works of Jesus is blasphemy, elevating ourselves to the position of God. Fear has crippled the body of Christ from fulfilling it's job! And this is not Godly fear because Godly fear would fear NOT doing the works of Jesus after having been sent to do so. The difference? I am not God but God dwells in me to do His will if I will listen and obey! Again I reference Mark 16 Is it not fascinating how the trinity has been expressed as one and all in this one chapter? I agree with your extra pronouns. I have to go. God bless |
