Greetings All! Someone asked the other day about the importance of going to Church. The main thought that struck me is that Scripture tells us that there are many things we should do for 'one another'. Christians are not meant to be alone in their faith. We are meant to fellowship together, love one another, pray for one another, ect.... We can not do the things to 'one another' that we ought, if we have no fellowship. Here is a partial list of what we ought to do for one another: John 13:34 - "'A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.'" Rom. 10:12 - " Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." Rom. 10:16 - "Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited." Rom. 14:13 - "Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way." Rom. 15:7 - "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." 1 Cor. 1:10 - "I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought." Gal. 5:13 - "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Eph. 4:2 - "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Eph. 4:32 - "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Eph. 5:19 - "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, " Eph. 5:21 - "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." Col. 3:13 - "Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Col. 3:16 - " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." 1 Thess. 5:11 - "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." Heb. 3:13 - "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness." Heb. 10:24 - "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." 1 Pet. 1:22 - "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." 1 Pet. 3:8 - "Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble." 1 Pet. 4:9 - "Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling." 1 Pet. 5:5 - "Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, 'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'" What is one reason for going to Church? We should go to Church so that we might be all that we can be to 'one another'! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim I think we also have to look at Ephesians 4:11-12 The reason God gave Pastors and Teachers was to equip the saints for the work of Lord. What work? Making disciples Matthew 28:19,20 and being Christ's witnesses Acts 1:8 Too many forget in all the talk of grace that we have been charged to take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the world. We have called to be salt and light. We have been called to be witnesses and disciple makers and God set Pastors and teachers before us to equip us for that task. That is another major reason for church to equip that saints. EdB |
