2 | Searching for the truth | John 10:30 | Ray | 98008 | ||
Hi FytRobert, I encourage everyone to capitalize pronouns of Deity because God is not a god. He is the one true God. You speak of God the father but He is the Father. You speak of Jesus the son but He is the Son [sic] of God. You did not mention the spirit but the Holy Spirit is also Deity. All three are Persons of the triune God. All three are capitalized to show that they are God. John 4:25, "The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us." John 8:12, "Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life." John 8:19, "So they were saying to Him, "Where is Your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also." John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." Or, a unity, or one essence." John 4:24, NKJ, "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." I am wondering if in your "searching for the truth" that we should rather be seeking to know Him better, the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Ray, Thanks for your response and you have quoted John 10:30 Jesus said " I and the Father are one" I have also read the three preceding verses and I now append hereunder my perception. John10:30 "I and the Father are one" This verse by itself would superficially convince one and all that Jesus and the Father are one and the same Person/Spirit/God.But in order to have a better understanding of the message that this verse intend to convey,it is necessary to refer to the context that Jesus was talking about in the preceding verses.Jesus was narrating about how He and His Father were caring,guarding and protecting the sheep.In this context, Jesus and the Father are one- of one mind sharing the same caring and loving thought. But Jesus and the Father are two distinct persons! I stand to be corrected and I invite your invaluable comments. With love in Christ FytRobert |

Hi FytRobert, I believe that you have received a good understanding from your studying. I gladly stand with you as part of the flock of this Shepherd that we love. May I use what you have written to show how I view God? I believe that you will agree with me here. You wrote of the "one and the same Person/Spirit/God". I would write it "one and the same Man/Spirit/God". These three Persons are one; a unity, or one essence. God is Spirit, Spirit is Spirit, and this Man was claiming to be Spirit. That is why they picked up stones to stone Him. He was making God out to be a Man. The world has to decide if this Spirit was blaspheming when He said, "I am the Man/ of Spirit" (paraphrasing John 10:36). "I am the Son/of God. They were stoning Him (this Spirit) for blasphemy, because He, being a *Man, made God/ out to be a Man. 1) You are correct in looking at the Scriptures in context and I have come to interpret John 10 as talking about the Good Shepherd. John 10:2, "But *He who enters by the door is a *Shepherd of the sheep." 2) I would like to talk about John 10:16, John 8:47, and Micah 2:12 with you later. From the heart, Ray |
