1 | Is the Word-Faith movement biblical ? | John 10:27 | userdoe214 | 7816
As a veteran of both movements I say, move on. Not that I have any complaint with either movement, but because those bodies of teaching are related to events of the past, but our God is doing new things all the time. There is truth in both movements (try to get that part), but some of the errors (one of which you mentioned) are almost too strange for sane people to ponder. Just remember: the Bible and the voice of the Lord are your guides (they never contradict). In the end He will judge your actions by you obedience to those to influences; not your attention to the teaching of men (even very good men). I have every confidence He is your guide, and you are in His constant care, thus never fear to put your foot on the water. mark |

2 | What is the Word-Faith movement? | John 10:27 | Hank | 7842
My knowledge of the Word-Faith movement is woefully lacking. Will someone who is well-versed in this matter define what it is, how it began, who and how many subscribe to it? --Hank
3 | What is the Word-Faith movement? | John 10:27 | Hiram Abiff | 7844
I am no expert but a quick search for quotes from movers and shakers in the movement brings up this and a lot more of the same. Kenneth Hagin asserts, "Man…was created on terms of equality with God, and he could stand in God’s presence without any consciousness of inferiority…God has made us as much like Himself as possible…He made us the same class of being that He is Himself…Man lived in the realm of God. He lived on terms equal with God…The believer is called Christ…That’s who we are; we’re Christ!" (Kenneth M. Hagin, Zoe: The God-Kind of Life (Tulsa, OK: Kenneth Hagin Ministries, Inc., 1989), 35-36, 41. · Hinn made the following statement, "Man, I feel revelation knowledge already coming on me here. Life your hands. Something new is going to happen here today. I felt it just as I walked down here. Holy Spirit, take over in the name of Jesus…God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person; and He is a triune being by Himself separate from the Son and the Holy Ghost. Say, what did you say? Hear it, hear it, hear it. See, God the Father is a person, God the Son is a person, God the Holy Ghost is a person. But each one of them is a triune being by Himself. If I can shock you—and maybe I should—there’s nine of them. Huh, what did you say? Let me explain: God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person with his own personal spirit, with his own personal soul, and his own personal spirit-body. You say, Huh, I never heard that. Well you think you’re in this church to hear things you’ve heard for the last 50 years?" (Benny Hinn, Benny Hinn program on TBN (October 3, 1991). "So if we decree or affirm unwaveringly, steadfastly, we hold God by His own unalterable laws to do the establishing or fulfilling. . ." Lessons", Cady, pg. 52 |

4 | What is the Word-Faith movement? | John 10:27 | Hank | 7850
Thanks, Hiram. Your posting on the Word-Faith movement is interesting and instructive. Where O where do these people get their ideas? We are Christ, and the Trinity is really nine persons? Like WOW man, far out! No wonder the Bible goes out of its way to warn of false prophets. --Hank
5 | "Many false prophets will arise ..." | John 10:27 | Radioman | 7914
(The following has been re-posted to keep it in the right thread. My apologies for posting it twice.) Matt 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many." I have a question for all who would defend the word of faith movement and those who would defend its super-star preachers, including Kenneth Copeland, Kenneth Hagin, Fred Price, Paul and Jan Crouch, John Avanzini, Benny Hinn, Jesse Duplantis, and Marilyn Hickey, and the many other evangelists, teachers, and writers promoting the teaching. For a moment, forget their unbiblical doctrine of the prosperity gospel (i.e., name it and claim it). What about their heretical, near blasphemous teachings concerning the nature of God, Christ and man, as summarized below? "In brief, the teachings of these men may be summarized as follows: God created man in “God’s class,” as “little gods,” with the potential to exercise the “God kind of faith” in calling things into existence and living in opportunity, however, by rebelling against God in the Garden and taking upon ourselves Satan’s nature. To correct this situation, Jesus Christ became a man, died spiritually (thus taking upon Himself Satan’s nature), went to Hell, was “born again,” rose from the dead with God's nature again, and then sent the Holy Spirit so that the Incarnation could be duplicated in believers, thus fulfilling their calling to be little gods. Since we are called to experience this kind of life now, we should be successful in every area of our lives. To be in debt, then, or be sick, or (as is often taught) be left by one’s spouse, and not to have these problems go away by “claiming” God’s promises, shows a lack of faith" (Christian Research Institute). |
