1 | You can lose your salvation | Luke 23:26 | littleboy_rusty | 2621 | ||
Luke 23:26-46 I feel clearly shows the thief was not baptized, but Jesus said "today you will be with me in paradise". Water baptism shows pubicly that you have died to sin and come up from baptism, a new person in Christ. Salvation can be lost if a person chooses to go back into sin. God can and will keep a person in the palm of His hand if we follow Him. God bless |

tj57h@cs.com I have provided you with the following example of two individuals who as far as I can tell have at one time forfeited their salvation. It was said of these two that they made shipwreck of their faith. The picture I get of a shipwreck, is the ship is run upon the shallows and rocks by the wind and waves, and the waves pound athe ship into the rocks unmercifully until they bust the ship apart and it sinks or is cast adrift. The ship is destroyed. The same way the faith of these two was destroyed. Others will tell you they were not ever truly saved to begin with. I believe Paul would have told us that was the case if it was true. But I don't buy into that philosophy and thinking. Since Paul never said they were never really saved to begin with, that would have to be an assumption on the part of those who read these verses in that context. Paul wrote about some who "made ship-wreck of their faith" (1 Tim. 1:19,20) unlike many in our day Paul did not say of these who shipwrecked their faith, they were never really saved to begin with. 1 Tim. 1:18-20 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. Fallen from grace I believe is similar to your examples, it means your walk is not manefesting the fruits and gifts of God, incapable(because of their current state of heart, works based religion can have similar effects.) of crusing in Christ as you should, It does not indicate eternal damnation! It is a free gift, not earned, salvation is something we are walking in and given by grace through faith, not manefested by works and therefore earned!Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF OURSELVES: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Love, Tim We get Faith through gifts and fruits because Christ who is our life is living in us saving us. We live by the faith of Christ Gal 2:20. |
