Dear CalmRage, I understand what you are saying. Part of that may simply be a factor of the incredibly difficult work that Christ came to perform. As believers, we know the continuous struggle against sin, the sadness we feel when men refuse to believe, and the despair we experience when they redouble their efforts in the wrong direction. We also live in a day and age that seems to want to overemphasize putting on a happy face no matter what. Quite contrary to what James tells us in James 4:9! The old Puritans used to talk about "the gift of tears." However, contemplate that passage in Zephaniah. Also, remember that in Matthew 25:23 and elsewhere we are told that glory will be continuous joy in the Lord.
