1 | Personality disorder or demon possesion? | Mark 5:15 | DocTrinsograce | 211895
PS Where in Scripture do we find demonic "oppression?" I find the word possession used frequently in demonic context, but only once do I find the word oppression relative to the Devil's activity (Acts 10:38). Even in that passage, oppression -- in the actual sense of the original word -- might easily apply to the activity of demons in their mistreatment of those they had possessed. I have to admit that I have not really spent a lot of time on demonology. However, I have heard the distinction of possession and oppression taught. Nevertheless, now that I look for it in the Word, I'm not finding that definitive teaching.

Hiya Doc, Wouldn't the distinction kind of go back to your previous post? A "Christian" couldn't possibly be possessed by the devil and they certainly don't want to think in terms of sin or that it's because of a mental disorder so they call it oppression by the devil. (That's just my 2cents worth of the difference between the two, possession and oppression, but it doesn't seem biblical to me either.) Shalom Cheri |
