Doc And others I've offended, In my zeal to answer a post authored by flossiejane, I do need to ask for your forgiveness for making a couple of incorrect statements that I couldn't back up with scripture. To answer Doc's inquiries to what I can readily provide, here goes it: The statement of "free from the law" should truely be "free from the curse of the law"(Gal 3:13). The Law itself was not imperfect, but was made imperfect because man is of a sinful nature (Rom 7:4-14., Rom 8:3). The "pattern" that I stated in my original answer was made in reference to the way God's people should live:(Leviticus/whole)(Exodus 20). And because God is holy and righteous, the Law, decrees, and regulations mediated through Moses were a reflection of His righteousness. I agree Doc, "symbolize" was not a good use of the alphabet! To answer the last of the questions concerning 'salvation'; According to Revelations 21:1-4, the old order of things have passed away with the passing away of the present heaven and earth and Jesus also confirms this in Mat 5:18. I do appreciate the members of this forum being biblically savy!! Your faithful brother in Christ, Cantool |

Thanks, brother Cantool! Good clarification, there! Great scriptural support! I wasn't offended. Actually there are a number of folks in the forum who are dispensational along with a number that are more covenantal in their perspective... even a few of the neo-covenantal persuasion. I figured you meant one thing but were saying another. :-) I do that myself sometimes! Clarity can help the less knowledgeable to understand sound doctrine, and can help to distinguish us from those who actually promulgate false doctrine. Additionally, we ourselves can be benefitted by being corrected if we find our views to not be doctrinally sound. As you participate in the forum -- and I really hope that you continue to do so! -- you'll find we are well represented in all of these categories! :-) In Him, Doc |
