Hi jlpangilinan, Matthew 7:29 says that Jesus "was teaching them as having authority." I believe that I as a person interested in capitalization of pronouns do not have to decide whether to make the word "one" or "One" because the word is not implied in the Greek. Jesus simply taught as having authority. This is important because in the verse of interest to you, you do not have to decide if this is just a man who is capable of marvelling. This Jesus is a Man who marvels as a Man who came in the likeness of men but was God Himself in flesh. The centurian's great faith was that he recognized Him as God; the very God who should not come under his roof, because he was unworthy of that. The centurian recognized that he was a man under authority and having authority. I believe that the Greek word "gar", #1063 in Strong's concordance, should not be translated "also". My choice from Strong's now would be, "For I, after all, indeed am a man under authority, with soldiers under me..." The "also" suggests that Jesus was also a man but He was indeed a Man, Jesus Christ our Lord. He was God but He was also Man. The Man marvelled that He was loved and recognized in faith. From the heart, Ray |

2 | Who wrote the truhth? | Matt 7:29 | jlpangilinan | 61819 | ||
I know that He is a Man at the time. I know that He has the body that can die. My question really is about the two desciples, Peter assesses that Christ know everything, as John wrote that passages, and if you notice Christ did not correct Peter when he said that, meaning peter was right when he said that Christ knew all things. Matthew has different assessment, he wrote that Jesus marveled when He found that great faith in the person of Roman officer. Who write the true assessment? Peter as written by John or the one of Matthew? God bless, Johnny |
