Bible Question:
In this verse, Peter said that Jesus know all things Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. But in this verse Matthew said that Christ surprise when he found great faith in a roman officer Mt 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. If peter was right assessing that Christ know all things, Christ should know about that faith of roman officer why he marvelled? Do you think Christ marvelled if He know all things? God bless, Johnny |
Bible Answer: Consider kenosis as a probable way to account for the issue you are wrestling with. Kenosis, of course, is a reference to the "emptying" of the Son in the incarnation (Phil. 2:7). Kenosis entails the temporary and voluntary surrender of the exercise of certain divine attributes by the Son of God while He was on earth. But I'm likely preaching to the choir: you already knew that, didn't you? --Hank |
