1 | Healing powers of the false prophets? | Matt 7:22 | EdB | 49688 | ||
William Most of what Mommapbs said is true, however we still have to be very careful because there are many false teachers, teaching a different Jesus. We are living in a time where discernment is discouraged and this ought not be the case. Now is the time when we need more discernment, we need to be depending on the Holy Spirit. Jesus and the writers of every epistle warns that as the day of Jesus' return approaches more and more false teachers will rise up. We are not to judge if a person is saved or not but we are to judge their fruit and teaching. If a Pastor or teacher teaches anything wrong that should turn on a red light and from then on we need to be very careful what we receive from them. We must not as Paul warned the Corthinians 2 Cor. 11:4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough. ESV. Paul was saying this was wrong and they needed to stop letting this happen. You asked, “Can a false teacher heal in Jesus’ name?” Absolutely Mormons heal everyday in Jesus’ name and their Jesus is the brother of Satan (by their teaching). Matthew 7:22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' NASB Is there men and women in the ministry deceived today? Yes, I really don’t think there are many that set out to be false teachers, but rather have allowed compromises into their lives that eventually lead them into this false teaching. I think most get caught in the trap of trying to preserve a large church or large ministry and soon turn to teaching “ear pleasing” messages rather than messages of truth. Is this something for Christians to worry about? No! but it is something we have to be aware of and like the Bereans search the scriptures daily to see it what a teacher says is true. I heard a man the other night on TV who was 99 percent right but that 1 percent was from the pit of hell and he had the audience hanging on his every word. We also need to be praying for these ministers that get caught up in Satan’s trap. Few understands the pressures ministers face in areas of growth and meeting ministry budgets. Today people look at a ministry and if it isn’t setting records in growth it must be a dead church. People judge by numbers rather than by the spirit and again this is where discernment comes in. We need to look at ministry and discern is this ministry lifting Jesus up or is it growing because it is teaching what people want to hear. Yes we are to judge! We need to ask, is this person teaching me Jesus the true Son of God or is he teaching another Jesus, one that sounds good, one that excites my spirit, but one that didn’t die for my sins on the cross? Dear EdB, You know you are so right. It seems wherever I go I hear someone saying ‘don’t judge’ or ‘who gave YOU the right to judge’. I always retaliate by saying “what it says is that ‘don’t judge lest you be judged’, meaning that in the same way you judge you will also be judged, so that if you’re trying to set someone inform them about an issue (such as drinking) in their ways you’ll have MUCH more impact by being blameless in your ways, but even if your ways are not ‘perfect’ it doesn’t mean the truth isn’t.” I hope I’m doing right The world doesn’t like to be scolded and I think this half-truth that is out there is a convenient way for the world to comfort itself. In a misery that it doesn’t even know it’s in. As long as it has taken for the world to get in the shape it’s in. It seems to get mad at those trying to turn it around. So the people that love the world want others to share in its guilt and by tapping into that spirit of that half-truth covers up their most treasured pleasure (as well as Satan’s most treasured commodity) Sin. Quite an effective tool by Satan don’t you think. I will always try to be on the lookout for the evil one, and I will always pray for the light that ONLY Jesus Christ can give me. I will pray the same for this forum. I also agree that little compromises can lead one into damnation without knowing it.( that’s not entirely true. One usually knows WHEN it happens, they just don’t know how dangerous it is(“or its just not a big deal”). Before you know it that one compromise turns into a thousand and all of a sudden you’re buried in all sorts of little problems. God bless, William |
