1 | Are all Christians going to heaven? | Matt 7:21 | Appleseed | 10618 | ||
Firstly thanks to all for answering. I do appreciate it so much. I know that not every answer is correct so I rely on the Holy Spirit to reveal the revelation through others. About the my response. I believe that Jesus is the door and doing God's Will is our step through the door. e.g. Parable of the Talents, Parable of the Faithful, Parable of the Evil Servant and of the Barren Fig Tree. But this verse baffles me. If I take the series of verses throughout the Word it does not seem to fit. But nevertheless I seek to understand. The meaning that I think Paul is talking about here is those who stagnate. Accepted Jesus Christ and that is it. Even though we are alive we can be dead through stagnation. If we read the verses leading up to this verse But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. (1 Thess 4:9-15). After he talks of Christ return. What are your thoughts? |

Appleseed and Nolan, Let me interject. -Mat. 7:21 has an important word, "say." Just becuase people say He is Lord and claim to of done things does not make them a Christian. --There are people, who on their own, think they are Christians - because they do somethings (works). I see verses 13-14 fit here. --There are cults that teach their followers that they are Christians. The followers are duped into believing another gospel. I see verses 15-20 fit here. ...neither group is getting in, based on verses 21-27. Nolan is right about the passage in 1 Thessalonians. But, let me add some thoughts. -Each chapter ends with something about His return. 4:13-5:11 is a whole section on this. -In the passage you quoted, Paul writes that they know about the love principle (vv 9-10). They also knew He ws coming like a thief in the night (5:1-2). ... to live a life of respect, including work (vv 11-12). He repeats this thought (2Th 3:10-12) ... then he closes the chapter about something they were worrying |
