1 | Hide righteousness or let it shine? | Matt 6:1 | ProclaimTruth | 6243
The acts of righteousness in Matt 6:1 are those that you do in order to gain the praise of men - like when the Pharisees would pray loudly in public so that people would give THEM the praise for being so "righteous". Jesus called them hypocrites for doing that. It's like it says in Isaiah 29:13 "... this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me." On the contrary, letting your light shine (Matt 5:16) are acts that you do in order to give praise and honor to GOD. The difference can be summed up: Who are you trying to bring honor to ... you or God?
2 | Hide righteousness or let it shine? | Matt 6:1 | EbnZhr | 15426
A city set on a hill... a nation set on a hill... alas, scattered to the four winds .. why? Because the light of the Torah given by Hashem was not deseminated according to the Will of Hashem. Instead it was hidden and obscured and made to serve the interest of some over the welfare of the many. And this continued to the point where some of the rabbis would say to other rabbis, to other fellows in blood and faith, "stay off by yourself... for I am holier than you, come not near.." And in this malase of ill directed jurisprudence a hedge grew around the Torah. A planting not set forth by Hashem. The Mashiach could only exclaim... "And here is how they will know you, if you have love for one another." Yes Mashiach berated them, those leaders who said one unto another "Raca." Yet still they and there peers continued on their merry way... Some teaching and developing a body of traditions designed to force compliance , designed to storm heaven and to take it by forth.... if at all possible... saying to one another " build a wall, a hedge around the Torah and gather to yourselves many disciples... disciple who could ensure continuance of their practice." And so even as our own Rabbis have told us our people were scattered because of the sin of loshon Hora... (evil speaking). Evil speaking against each other, and against Mashiach? Lo, the Stone rejected by our Rabbis... even as Yakob (James ) did say in recogniztion of this evil... and the plight which awaited us.. "The Tongue is a world of Evil." E bnZhr lefayt |
