1 | What does water baptism do? | Matt 3:15 | 2ndSamuel22 | 52998
Dear Grace and Truth, The grave I was refering to was figurative, as we were "dead in our sins" before we came to salvation. I apologize for any confusion that may have caused. I stand by what I said refering to Romans 6:3-4,that it is not water that cleanses our soul, but the blood of the Christ. No only His blood, but His water as well. Notice in John 19:34--"But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water."(KJV) These are the blood and water that purge our unrighteousness. We are then baptized into Christ by the Holy Spirit. After all, can anything which is under heaven, defiled by man and our sins, truly make us right with God? Should we perform the symbolic act? Of course. Again, it is the difference between "demonic" and "salvific" faith. But it is not a condition for salvation. Just as we are commanded to abstain from uncleanness; but if we do sin, are we then "unsaved"? No. Concerning Philippians 3:10-11. If you would, take a look at the immediate preceding verse, v.9:"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"(KJV) Our righteousness, as Christians, comes through faith, and that through God's grace. I Peter 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."(KJV) Notice, Peter says that it is God's mercy, and our faith that brings salvation. Lastly, again in I Peter--1:18-19 "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"(KJV) He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

2 | What does water baptism do? | Matt 3:15 | Grace and Truth | 53107
My friend, What I am saying is, in this whole thing about salvation, that water baptism is included in God's grace through faith plan, and I stand by that! Everywhere salvation is someone has been baptized by immersion, and your question is weather or not it is connected with salvation? If we sreach the book of Acts carefully we can see that baptism is connected with salvation by garce, Acts 2:38, 8:36-38, 10:44-48, 16:30-34, 19:1-5, 22:16. If baptism by immersion was not necessary for salvation it would not be in the bible. Now this must be said, IT TAKES FAITH IN GOD'S WORD TO BELIEVE THAT POINT! GREAT FAITH! I say that because many have been taught for so long that baptism is not a part of God's salvation plan, but the bible teaches different. Men are to Hear the gospel, Romans 10:17. Believe it John 20:30,31 Repent of their sins Luke 13:3,5 Confess the name of Jesus Christ before men Matt 10:32,33 Be baptized for the remission of sins, Acts 22:16; 2:38; Live faithful to the Lord, Rev 2:10 You have seen many alter calls that don't include these points, because men are teaching for doctrine, the commandments of men. Matt 15:9 Baptism is something men submit to, no one can baptized their self, because we are dead because of sins. |

3 | What does water baptism do? | Matt 3:15 | 2ndSamuel22 | 53119
Dear Grace and Truth, I agree that water baptism is one of the fruits of a changed life, that if one truly is saved, then they will want to be baptized. But, it is not the baptism itself that does the saving. Holy Spirit baptism does the saving. Water baptism is how we show the world that we do accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Just as in I Corinthians 6, when Paul says,"...neither drunkards...shall inherit the Kingdom of God." It is not the act of drinking(as there are various refernces to support the drinking of wine), it is the desire for it instead of the Word of the LORD(Ephesians 5:18) he is condemning. Water baptism does not save, but if you are saved you will want to be immersed. Just as if you ae saved, you will want to follow all the rest of His commands. I truly do believe that we have pretty well exhausted this argument; if one or the other's mind has not been changed by now, it likely never will. He is exalted, the King is exalted on High!! 2nd Samuel 22 |

What is your difinition of (Holy Spirit baptism) and show me the scriptures that will bring light to this point? "Water baptism does not save, but if you are saved you will want to be immersed. Just as if you ae saved, you will want to follow all the rest of His commands". Your above statement is bold, Acts 22:16, 1Peter 3:20-21, and the text that is said to be not inspired Mark 16:16. I don't want to weary you about this subject, but others will bring it up agan. In John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. If one could properly explain the significants of the water here then maybe we can have a changed mind. If water has nothing to do with cleansing the soul and spirit of men, why is it mentioned here? We know the blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin, but why the water being seperate and distink from the blood coming out of the body of Jesus our Lord? Are they not together? Why? Was God trying to tell us something? Did Jesus know what he was saying to Nicodemus in John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I SAY UNTO THEE, (EXCEPT A MAN BE BORN OF WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT , HE CANNOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD!) These are the things that puzzle me, when I here teachings saying the opposite of what Jesus is saying. You must be born again! vs.10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master (teacher) of Israel, and knowest not these things? I know the teachings of Paul tells us about the grace of God, apart from works! But I know, and have never found an explicit statement where he (Paul) saying baptism by immersion was included as one of the works he was speaking about! For he himself was told to "arise and be baptized and wash away his sins calling on the name of the Lord". Acts 22:16. |
