1 | Two aspects of the will of God | Matt 23:37 | John Reformed | 70770
Dear Tim You wrote (45170)"there isn't any verse which says that God makes our choices for us. I believe that God has sovereignly given us the ability to choose - to respond to His grace or to reject His grace. Granted, this is a limited freedom. We cannot change the means of salvation. We cannot prevent His second coming. But, we can accept or reject His grace." I agree that God does not force us to choose ", when what we really desire is "B". God did not force the enemys of Christ to murder Him. Nevertheless, the Bible says that His death on the cross was ordained by God in accordance to God's ETERNAL plan. How do you reconcile these two, seemingly contradictory, facts? John |

2 | Two aspects of the will of God | Matt 23:37 | Morant61 | 70774
Greetings John! I pray that you and your family had a merry Christmas! You asked: "How do you reconcile these two, seemingly contradictory, facts?" I don't see them as contradictory. Acts 2:23 presents the answer and demonstrates that there is no contradiction. It says, "This man was handed over to you by God?s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross." God's eternal plan was to hand Jesus over to these evil men, but the evil men put Him to death. All of this was based upon both God's plan and foreknowledge. A contradiction is 'A' and 'not A' at the same time. But, Acts 2:23 presents this scenrio as 'A' and 'B', so it's not a contradiction. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
