1 | How many generations betw Exodus-Solomon | Matt 1:17 | stjohn | 207184 | ||
Hi Jim: You may want to take a look back at the two verses before Matt 1:5 where it is said that "Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab," and you will see that we have Perez, who is the son of an adulterous relationship between Juda and Tamar, Gen ch 38. Who was, by the way, the great great etc, grandfather of Solomon, I'd say we have a full deck, sinners are coming from all directions when it comes to where Jesus the man came from, as far as His sinful earthly linage is concerned. Also note that Juda had illicit relations with, "a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua; and he took her and went in to her." v2. Sorta puts to question, the theory that God would not allow His Son to come from such as these, sinners of the Canaanites. Who, by the way, are really no worse then the Israelites. How wonderful it is that one of his ancestors was a harlot and two of them were adulterers, and one of them was also a murderer! 2 Sam ch 11. And in fact all of the earthly line on either side were all sinners! You see, Jim, we are all sinners, and just like they did, fall short of God's glory. Eph 2:8-9 John |

Hi John, Can't disagree with your observations, except that Jesus ancestry down to his mother,Mary, was pure Israelite. I am yet to see scripture that it was not. Jim |
