1 | Did my dad go to heaven or hell? | Matt 18:3 | bigot | 165430
Ultimately, we do not know if anyone is in hell or heaven. God is the only judge of this and the only One who knows with any certainty. Wherever people end up however, it is not Biblically sound to pray for those who have died. For good or bad, the eternal destiny of every person is sealed at the moment of death. Paul wrote that it is appointed unto man once to die and thereafter the judgement. The only thing we can do is witness to people while they are alive and for ourselves, trust in the only Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation. If those who have died could speak to us (and they can not) they would tell us to avoid hell at any cost, just as Jesus did while He lived on earth.

Here is a small piece of scripture to remind those who lack in faith of God's forgiveness. May it be a comfort to you in the passing of your father. Ps 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. This small passage leads me to answer that if I was in your shoes, I would prefer to believe your father is with his FATHER. |

The Bible says that God forgives but only upon repentance. None of us know for certain whether or not any particular individual had time or the inclination to repent of sin given enough time. This is probably just as well. We must just be ready to meet the Lord at any time
