1 | Why did Moses' send his wife to Midian | Ex 4:25 | keliy | 210777 | ||
Okay, I meant his own family, brothers and sisters notwithstanding. As for speculation on Scripture, I have read many commentaries, take Revelation for instance. It is possible to pick up the works of 10 commentators and get no less than 12 explanations of the verses. May I ask you, are you at odds with them as well? Do you judge me for doing my best, if my best is not faultless? If there is no response to a query, is it wrong to start a dilogue with my best understandings, or would we actually fare better to leave well enough alone? Speaking alethes in agape, keliy |

Dear Keliy.... Study Bible Forum has some pretty clear guidelines on giving out opinion or speculation, (found in the, Terms of Use) and the best way to stay out of trouble here at the SBF is to know what Scripture actually says before we give out an answer; in fact sort of our motto here is "sola Scriptura", which means of course, "Scripture only. We can read a thousand commentaries, but if they are wrong, we are indeed going to fare better (and so will everyone else) if we simply leave it alone. If Scripture doesn't say, (and in this case it doesn't) then the 'best' we can do is to just say, "Scripture doesn't say". So, do you see my point? Now if we like, and it lines up with sound doctrine, we can give out opinion and speculation, but it is something we need to be very careful to give out as such, e.g. "this is my opinion", or "this is speculation", or "I have heard" or "read this", etc... Keliy, I am not at odds with you, nor am I judging you, but I am simply trying to set straight what is quite clearly, something that Scripture doesn't say. So my friend, if I may sum this up in answer to you question; "would we actually fare better to leave well enough alone?" YES, yes we would. God bless John |
