2 | Why did Moses' send his wife to Midian | Ex 4:25 | keliy | 210762 | ||
Greetings, senicienta, Welcome, and thank you for your question. It seems as though he had sent them back, probably from the inn where his wife’s aversion to the circumcision of her son could have likely cost him his life. See 4:24, "And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him." He presumed there would be difficulty in the Pharaoh's court, and decided not to take any along with him of his own family, the protection of them is likely only one reason, another possibility is that he sent them to his father-in law, fearing they may become a further hindrance, or maybe Pharaoh could have used their presence as a bargaining tool against Moses. Other possibilities are likely as well. keliy |

Dear keliy... Well, Keliy, it looks like we are at it again.... (speaking of Moses) You wrote: "He presumed there would be difficulty in the Pharaoh's court, and decided not to take any along with him of his own family," (sic) First of all Keliy, scripture does not say why he decided not to take anyone along at all, and second of all, he did take along his brother Aaron and his sister Miriam; so sorry my friend, but you are flat wrong on three counts. Please do not give out opinion or speculate on Scripture unless you actually know what you are talking about, as this can be very misleading and damaging to those who come here seeking the truth. This is a Bible study forum, not an opinion/speculation forum. Please refrain from giving out false information, and please try to go with what Scripture actually says, not what we think it says. Speaking the truth in love John "We would like to agree with one who says that the bulk of our church-members love the old gospel; but we are not quite sure of it. If there were so general a soundness in the rank and file, would they quietly endure the abounding errors of the pulpits, and the babyish amusements with which congregations are being drenched? We fear the plague is among the people as well as among the priests. Yet, surely, there must be some who will fling aside the dastard love of peace, and speak out for our Lord, and for his truth. A craven [cowardly] spirit is upon many, and their tongues are paralyzed. Oh, for an outburst of true faith and holy zeal!" --Charles H. Spurgeon |

Greetings Keliy, I have been around at this Forum since April of 2001 and I have read a lot of weird, strange out in left field answers, questions and things in between. In fact, I have been considered by several long standing members of this Forum (and some who choose not to be here any longer) to be one of the original "pioneers" here. I was the first 'poster' here to 1,100 posts. I was the first 'poster' here to 5,000 posts. Then Searcher56 passed me in posts and has led ever since. What you wrote in your "Answer" post to this question in this thread does, by no means, compare to some of the less than stellar answers I have seen at this Forum, and you are owed as much grace as the rest of us. I write this note to you for encouragement - I read and greatly appreciated the spirit and intention in which you have answered this question! I believe that it is a bit unwarranted and unwise for some here to crack down on you without a dose of mercy. Perhaps some people only consider 'cracking down' on you if you've only been here a short while. Keep up the good work, but remember to back up your answers with as much Scripture as possible! :) Your brother in Christ, Nolan |
