1 | Pologomy Allowed? | Ex 21:10 | Michael Draves | 102430
Deuteronomy 17:17 and 1 Timothy 3:2,12 make limitations for certain leaders but there is no out right ban on polygamy in the Bible and polygyny was in practice. Protection is given to the inheritance of the firstborn son born to an unloved wife in Deuteronomy 21:15-17. See the paper "Is Polygamy Sin?" by Rev. Caleb Mathebula http://www.africanazarene.org/pages/education/thHome.html |

2 | Pologomy Allowed? | Ex 21:10 | Hank | 102437
Michael Draves - It is hardly necessary to read a paper by the "Rev" Caleb Mathebula or anyone else in order to find out what God's plan is for the union of a man and a woman (both singular nouns, by the way). "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." (Genesis 2:24). Jesus quotes this verse in Matthew 19:5 and continues, in verse 6, "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." ...... This doesn't sound like an endorsement of polygamy to me. --Hank
3 | Pologomy Allowed? | Ex 21:10 | Michael Draves | 102443
I am not endorsing polygamy - just saying it was allowed. And I said in my first response that monogamy was the ideal. Lets just drop it.

Fine by me to drop it, Michael. Polygamy really isn't an issue for debate in Scripture nor should it be on a Bible study forum. --Hank
