1 | Satan.. man or not? | Ezek 28:12 | sandrider | 57018
I found this site: http://www.bbie.org/english/Study06GodandEvil/0602DevilAndSatan.html It gives solid information as well as I can tell, proving that Satan and the Devil are not a supernatural being. Can anyone who has more expertise in this area give any thoughts? |

2 | Satan.. man or not? | Ezek 28:12 | teragram123 | 57019
Ezekiel 28:12-14 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. [13] Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. [14] Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Ezekiel 28:15-18 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [16] By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. [18] Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. Ezekiel 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. These verse seem to describe an earthly King... ruled by a spirit being... king of Tyre - Ithobalus II; cp - Ezekiel 28:2 Most of the verses describe a being that seems clearly to be supernatural... one would have to stretch the imagination to say they describe a mere mortal. This is more easily seen in comparison to the account in the book of Revelation in the accounts pertaining to the Anti-Christ who will rule as a mortal fully possessed by the spirit of satan. |

14-Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; Many commentaries believe that he may have been even one of the angels that "covered" the mercy seat... |

Greetings Erdmannes, A parallel passage is found in Isaiah 14:12-20. Also, Satan is called the adversary (1 Peter 5:8), Abaddon or Apollyon (Rev. 9:11), the enemy (Matt. 13:39), the father of lies (John 8:44), great red dragon (Rev. 12:3), prince of this world (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11), prince of devils (KJV, Matt. 12:24), prince of the power of the air (Eph. 2:2), ruler of the darkness of this world (Eph. 6:12), the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4). Satan's kingdom will be destroyed (2 Sam. 23:6,7; Matt. 12:29; 13:30; Luke 11:21,22; 1 John 3:8). Synagogue of satan (Rev. 2:9; 3:9). Blessings to you, Makarios [Posted with help of Nave's Topical Bible] |
