Subject: Satan.. man or not? |
Bible Note: Hello all ... i have been a Bible-believing born again Christian from age 4, and have only recently begun to question and test my faith. i'm putting it through the rigorous kind of testing that such devotion requires, because the idea that i've held blind faith for so many years unnerves me. Looking at these highlights of Satan, a Bible skeptic might find it suspicious that there are so many specific, explicit depictions in the New Testament, while the OT has only a handful of mentions. Beyond that, i've heard it said that Satan is mentioned only in the NT, while "the satan," an agent of God, is the one spoken of in Job. There is, of course, the serpent to lend credence. i find the King of Tyre passage too murky to make the call that Satan is a proper-noun fallen angel. You'd think that if there *were* a fallen angel named Satan who infects us and tempts us and stands as the main force of opposition to almighty God, the OT authors would've made a bigger deal about him beyond a few scant references.
