Bible Prophecy Perhaps the most important proof of the accuracy of the Bible is its predictive prophecy. No other “religious writing” has a body of prophecy as does the Bible. Ones that do are small in scope, very nebulous, and not always accurate. Approximately two thirds of the Bible is prophetic. Isa 44:6 "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: 'I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. 7 And who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, Since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming and shall come, Let them show these to them. 8 Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.'" Isa 46:9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' God challenges other to do as He does, declaring things that have not yet happened, proving that He is God, that He alone knows the future. Isaiah 41:22-23 "Let them bring forth and show us what will happen; Let them show the former things, what they were, That we may consider them, And know the latter end of them; Or declare to us things to come. Show the things that are to come hereafter, That we may know that you are gods;” Israel became a nation in about 1400 BC. There was a civil war in 988 BC, and the nation was divided into Israel in the north, and Judah in the south. Because they turned away from God, Israel was conquered by the Assyrians in 728 BC. Before this happened, those of Israel that were faithful to the LORD had moved to Judah. The people of Judah were taken captive by the Babylonians in 606 BC because of their disobedience to God, then allowed to return to their land in 536 BC, but not under their own government. They were ruled by the Medes and Persians, then the Greeks, then the Romans. The Roman army, in response to the Jews revolutionary activities, scattered the Jews throughout the world, utterly destroyed Jerusalem, including their temple, and converted the country to a wasteland by cutting down all the trees, spreading salt over the ground, and they renamed the area Palestine, after the Jews’ centuries old enemy, the Philistines. No nation has ever returned to self-rule in its own land after being treated this way. Israel became a nation again, in their original land, after a 1,879-year exile, and after 2,484 years since having their own government. The Bible predicted this in the following verses: Ezekiel 36:24 "For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Isaiah 66:7-8 "Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She delivered a male child. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion [another name for Israel] was in labor, She gave birth to her children. Ezekiel 36:30 "And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations. Ezekiel 36:34-35 "The desolate land shall be tilled instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass by. So they will say, 'This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.' Isaiah 27:6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob [Jacob was the father of Israel] to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. Ezekiel 37:21-22 "Then say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again. This is what God has done. He brought the children of Israel out of all countries, to a desert wasteland that no one wanted, and now they have cultivated it, and planted trees everywhere, and changed the climate. Now it is a garden land, and everyone around wants it. |

"What about 2100 years? Is that too long of a time to think concerning it?" Every prophecy will be fulfilled. Jesus will return, whether it be in my lifetime or not. But even so, no matter when He comes, we will, each of us, one day stand before Him to be judged. You know the 10 Commandments, right? Have no gods before the LORD God of the Bible. Make no idols, or worship idols (false gods). Don't used the Name of God in a meaningless or empty way. Keep the Sabbath holy. Honor your father and mother. Don't murder. Don't commit adultery. Don't steal. Don't give false testimony. Don't covet. Let's start simple. Have you every told a lie? Have you ever taken something that didn't belong to you? Have you ever wanted to take something that didn't belong to you? Jesus said to look with lust was adultery. Have you ever done that? You don't need to answer me, but you will need to answer God. If you have done any of these, or broken any of God's laws, you will be guilty on that judgment day. Do you know what God declared would happen to those who are guilty of violating His Laws? "The soul that sins will die". The death that awaits is to be cast in the lake of fire, a place of eternal punishment. But Jesus took your place in death, and if you will believe in Him, you can become the child of God. You do not have to pay the price for your sins, if you accept that Jesus paid for you. Of course, God will not force you to, and so, if you insist, He will allow you to have your own way. But be warned - Your own way will lead to not only physical death, but eternal spiritual death away from the presence of God forever. And when you consider that God is the source of all love, all beauty, all that is good, the alternative is not very nice. The choice is yours, death of life. Oh why will you die?? Choose life, and live! Love in Christ, Mark |
