Hi Tom I still don’t see why the majority of the nine different translations of this scripture, make a distinction between the stump and the roots, by adding AND between them. In my NWT it also has a semi colon, which adds even more weight to my opinion. I yost to study with the JWs but I found they were so entrench in there beliefs that it was impossible to make them see the obvious. |

Greetings Tim and Lightning56! If you would like to know more about the New World Translation and the advantages/disadvantages of other translations, here is a good site: http://www.zianet.com/maxey/versions.htm As for the New World Translation, I would say that any translation that denies the Deity of Christ cannot be called a "Bible." Blessings to you, Makarios |

Hi Makarios This may not appear to be connected to the Isa 11 scripture But could I ask you to look at the two blessings made by Jacob, one for Judah Gen 49: 8-12 and for Joseph Gen 49: 22-26 Then have a look at the Isa 11 scripture with an open mind. I have tried this with two friends of my’n, both unacquainted with the bible, and they both arrived at the same conclusion. As a result I feel that the JW are not the only entrenched believers to interpret the bible the way they would like it to be. |

Greetings Lightning56! I have read Isaiah 11:1, Genesis 49:8-12 and Genesis 49:22-26, and I see that Jesus Christ is the 'Branch', being a descendant from the line of Judah. Isaiah 11:1 confirms that Jesus is the 'branch' spoken of, since the 'branch' is from the stem of Jesse. This is the only way to interpret these passages. Blessings to you, Makarios |

Greetings young men At Gen 49 :1 it shows that Jacob is prophesying regarding the future of his individual sons linage, and you are right about Judah’s line, but when I look at the prophesy relating to Joseph, it appears to me that his line will lead to some thing far greater than Judah’s This is why I have pointed out the AND in the Isa 11 scripture, because if you think of it Judah was the tree which produced Jesus but Jacob was the root and as you can see from the fist line of Jacob’s prophesy for Joseph, he is the offshoot from the foots. Gen 49 : 22 |
