1 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | DocTrinsograce | 142387 | ||
Hi, Pastor Glenn... Thank you for the references. I actually knew where these passages were, I was just lazy to not give the actual references or to quote them in their entirety. The question is this: In what way do we offer light? How do we know we are doing this sufficiently or not? Do we simply say, "Jesus loves you?" Or do we actually help men to know truth, sin, and the nature of God? In what way are we salt? Do we just stave off inevitable judgement, or do we actually contribute to making the world a better place for the reprobate and elect alike? (That is what our God does.) I appreciated your comments regarding judgement. I don't remember ever stopping to think about what it meant that "Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation." I suppose I had always thought it was metaphorical. You stated, "We need to remember also that after the Great Flood, everyone knew God." I hadn't imagined that Paul was talking about post-deluvian man. I thought it was more general than that. Even the Greeks and Romans new something about God (Pythagoras is a good example of one of the ancient philosophers who talked about a "one God.") This Greek word, "ginosko" is not a personal or intimate knowledge, but a general knowledge, an awareness. If he had meant an intimate, personal knowledge, Paul would have used the word "eido." (See 2 Thes 1:8, Hebrews 8:11, 10:30, and elsewhere.) I really am not giving all this the attention it deserves. I apologize to you and the brethren. Other duties are demanding my time. In Him, Doc |

John 15:13- Greater love has no one than this,that he lay down his life for his friends.We offer light, we are the salt as we lay our lives down for people. This is what what we should be doing every day. We plant the seed,God will bring the increase. In Christ, lionheart |
