1 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | nelson9770 | 141993
Why is there such hatred for homosexuals? I see in references in the Bible that it is a sin. There are other sins that are the same in punishment that are not even looked at in today's society. Adultry, sex before marriage and so on. Why is our society today so focused on homosexuality.

On considering this question more closely, I am persuaded that we as believers are at fault for homosexuality in our nation. It will only begin to be resolved by repentance in the church, not the government, not the secular world, not the homosexuals themselves. If you are a believer, I encourage you to read the following article. It statest things much more clearly than might I. It is written by two pastors, Douglas Jones and Douglas Williams. http://www.credenda.org/issues/16-2memorandum.php May God have mercy on us and grant us repentance. Hi Doc, Thanks for the link to a thought provoking article on this emotionally charged topic! Possibly because I don't adhere to Covenant Theology, I didn't buy their argument in its' entirety. They make some valid observations and raise some good questions for thought, however I have a hard time with homosexuality being "our fault" and it being a "curse" from God, etc. I would call it sin. This is not to say that there isn't merit to this view, but I think the scriptural basis for their major contentions is weak! I've never understood Paul to be proclaiming a curse upon mankind in Romans 1:24ff- other than our sinfulness in general! Those are my thoughts with an attempt at being open-minded:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Well, anything that turns our hearts to a desire for greater holiness is a good thing. As Thomas Watson answered the question when we may know that we "love the reproofs of the Word:" "When we pray that the Word may meet with our sins. If there is any traitorous lust in our heart, we would have it found out and executed. We do not want sin covered, but cured. We can open our breast to the 'sword' of the Word and say, 'Lord, smite this sin.'" In Him, Doc |
