1 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | EdB | 233625
DPMartin You said, "Christianity has become like a grocery store, where there is a selection of theologies to chose from on the shelf, hence a God of their approval as they see God ought to be." I could not agree more, and it started when man decided he could decide for himself what the scriptures were really saying. Oh they all claim that the Holy Spirit is leading them but from the mess of 3000 plus denominations I can't/don't believe the Holy Spirit lead each one in division of the others when it was Jesus' will that we would be in unity. In fact some of the more prevalent theologies never claim the leading the Holy Spirit but instead the superior intellect and logic of the man/men/group that developed the theology. |

2 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | DPMartin | 233629
EdB Yes you’re right about that, it is not the denominations or theologies we have to worry about though. Jesus responded to that and the Apostles dealt with that also. I do believe the Wisdom of God in this is that He allows men to have what they chose, and the results thereof, but He never lets it get confused with the Truth of God, and those who seek it. |

3 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | EdB | 233631
DPMartin You are right in what you say yet the fact remains that we have learned, faithful, committed, dedicated theologians that can't agree on reading of various passages of scripture. All claim to be seeking the truth, all claim to have found the truth yet the truth they found divides them and contradicts the other's truth. And the tragedy is they have more or less agreed to disagree and throw platitudes around like we agree on essential and disagree on minors. And they are bold enough to do it in light of John 17:22-23 (NASB) 22 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Notice what Jesus says will make the "world" know God sent Jesus. OUR UNITY. In which we suggest we agree to disagree but in times past burnt each other at the stake over and speak bitterly about today. Where is the testimony of Christianity |

4 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | DPMartin | 233632
EdB The testimony is in the Lord Jesus in one’s self, no where else. Its not required to be in some one else, for us, or with some one else, for us, its is to be with ourselves in unity in Christ. Consider, in the Kingdom of Heaven what is there that would be in disagreement with the Lord our God and be in Heaven, or remain in Heaven? My friend in Christ, it is all about the agreement fulfilled in Christ Jesus, and agreement in and with Jesus Christ. What? Did you think it should be easy? Again, it is Righteousness that delivers from death, not human nature. The fallowing is not a metaphor or a expression of pleasant affections, it is a necessity. Ps:18:1: I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. 2: The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. 3: I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. 4: The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5: The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. 6: In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Of which men, who know the Lord will surly experience. |

5 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | EdB | 233637
DPMartin If five people have 5 different theologies all claiming to be in Christ, and each of the five feel the other is totally wrong. Can all five still be in unity with Christ? Jesus said you are either for Him or against Him. Christ of course has perfect theology (doctrine for those that stumble on the use of the word theology) If our theology does not align exactly with Christ's then we aren't in unity. You can not have 3000 plus different denominations each calling the other mistaken having the same theology of Christ. Can't happen. |

6 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | EdB | 233638
DpMartin The discussion on "Adultery always involves a married woman?" is a perfect example. Beja and EmethAlethia clearly have different theology. Both can't be right, one or the other may agree with Christ's teaching, or they both might be wrong but they can't be in unity with Christ unless their theology does agree. I would imagine most on this forum tend to agree with Beja's position but even then I would guess there would be differing views, opinions, thoughts. These differences aren't the problem the problem is the willingness of Christians to accept differences and not seek the absolute truth. Is it because they don't believe there is an absolute truth, or that they are the only ones to possess that truth? |

7 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | DPMartin | 233641
EdB "These differences aren't the problem the problem is the willingness of Christians to accept differences and not seek the absolute truth. Is it because they don't believe there is an absolute truth, or that they are the only ones to possess that truth?" That’s correct, the only One that is the Truth is Jesus Christ, the Word of God. If neither person has a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, then neither person can seek the Lord for the Truth of the matter. |
