"Let us put theology out of religion. Theology has always sent the worst to heaven, the best to hell." Robert Green Ingersol
2 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | Morant61 | 233610
Greetings Ed! You do realize that Mr. Ingersol was an agnostic and noted enemy of the faith! There simply is no way to remove theology from our faith. As one of my theology professors noted, theology is simply our thinking or understanding about God. If you say that God is good, that is theology. If you say that Jesus was God in the flesh, that is theology. If you say Jesus is the only means of salvation, that is theology. How then can we remove theology? Every New Testament letter is a corrective for either faith or practice. What we believe about God will determine how we act. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

3 | Man's understanding is not always God's | Prov 21:2 | EdB | 233611
Tim Even a fool (Agnostic per Ps14:1) makes a valid point once in awhile. :-) And I agree just saying God is good is in fact theology, but I think the Ingersol and I know that I was going deeper than that. Too often theology is man's reasoning rather than God's truth. And as such man's theology often justifies things God never would and condemns things God never did. I see the reason for 3000 plus denominations which separate believers as caused by faulty theology. If man didn't try to talk for God and instead allowed God to speak for Himself I suspect there would be 3000 plus less denominations in this world. |
