Parable, thanks for your response. The common tie that binds us as brothers in Christ is stronger than the issues that divide us. I still maintain firmly that evolution and creationism are incompatible and that no one can accept Darwin's theory of evolution in toto without denying God's account of creation in Genesis. These heady topics are far too complex and presuppose a degree of expertise that few of us have in order to be able to treat them properly on a Bible study forum. And besides, I'm convinced that it is impossible to keep issues of this sort on topic, i.e., on exegesis of the Bible itself, without venturing out into the vast extra-biblical realm of the speculative and the theoretical. There is a number of websites to which the readers of this forum cam go to learn more about creationism and evolution. One Christian-oriented site that I recommend is icr.org. I will take my bow and leave this thread, because it is the sort of subject that could go on interminably without anyone being any wiser or any problem solved. I part with these words from Scripture: "For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." Parable, thanks for the tip on www.reasons.org. I've only glanced at it thus far, but it holds interest. I was surprised to find the question of Cain's wife addressed and paused long enough to read it. As all of us older users know, it's a question that has been asked on the forum 3 billion times, more or less! I think I'll direct the next questioner to the article on this website. I've enjoyed this discourse with you and hope it has been of some value and will continue to be as it goes now to take its rightful place of honor among the dusty tomes of infinite wisdom that comprise the archives of StudyBibleForum :-) --Hank | ||||||

I value your insights and look to you as an example for how to deal with many topics on this forum. We may disagree from time to time, but I always respect how you justify your positions. Regarding dusty tomes, let us not put our treasure where moth and rust destroy, but in heaven... Parable |
