1 | Why was Judah the chosen tribe? | Gen 49:10 | DocTrinsograce | 189601
Dear Searcher, If we are to believe that Judah was chosen based on his being more deserving than the others, would we have to say that Jacob was chosen on greater merit than Esau, and Isaac greater merit than Ishmael, and Abraham greater merit than Lot? Going the other direction chronologically, did Tamar have greater merit than others, or did she just win the prize because she was the last to pass down the line? There are others of whom we could speak regarding less than meritorious lives, but I think you get the point. So my question is this: Where in Scripture do we find God's choosing of any individual based on merit? If I have misunderstood what you were saying, I apologize in advance, and look forward to correction. In Him, Doc |

2 | Why was Judah the chosen tribe? | Gen 49:10 | Searcher56 | 189602
God's day to you, Doc, I never mentioned Judah was chosen based on his being more deserving than the others ... I pointed out "Judah could have also been DQed": -He is the one who suggested to sell Joesph (Gen 37:26ff). -He had relationship with Tamar, his daughter-in-law (Gen 38:14ff). If it was by merit, Joesph would have been choosen, including his view of his brother's actions (Gen 50:20) ... again, Judah being the leader. If you read that I thought Judah was chosen by merit, point it out ... I don't want to miscommmunicate. Searcher |

3 | Why was Judah the chosen tribe? | Gen 49:10 | DocTrinsograce | 189604
Sorry... I didn't understand the "DQ" shorthand. Does it mean disqualified? Qualification and merit are equivalent terms.
4 | Why was Judah the chosen tribe? | Gen 49:10 | Searcher56 | 189608
Yes - DQ mean disqualified. I'll not use shorthand. I am sorry for the confusion.

Searcher: Thanks for the clarification. The first thing I thought of was that DQ stood for either Dairy Queen or my great-great-nephew's initials, which are DQ. :-) Grace to you, Kalos |
