1 | How old is the earth scripturally? | Gen 1:1 | Daninjapan | 4542
Calculations based on lifespans recorded in the Bible are only relevant to the question of how much time has passed since Adam. All events recorded in Genesis 1:1-26 occur before Adam's creation. So the age of the earth cannot be calculated by "adding up the numbers" as Usher and some others have attempted unless you assume calendar days for the creation days - the very assumption that most old earth creationists decline to accept. Also, some gap theory proponents accept literal calendar days but propose a gap between Genesis 1:1 and the start of the first day.
2 | How old is the earth scripturally? | Gen 1:1 | Nicholson | 4553
There seems to be a large unrevealed number of ages between Gen.1:1 and Gen.1:2. Because Gen.1:1 tells about the creation of the heavens and the earth. But Gen.1:2 tell that the earth alone (and not the heavens)was in a ruined condition. Gen.1:2 can also be translated as "the earth BECAME formless, void," For details you can see my TIME CHART in http://members.rediff.com/nicholson/godslove.htm
