1 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | jholler | 186335
Thanks, CDBJ, but I think you've actually made me more aware of the root of my own question...what standards of "righteousness" applied in THAT day, that this offer was neither condemned, nor even mentioned, by the Angels Lot was seeking to protect? If Lot recognized them to be angels, he would have known there would be no need for him to do any protecting...so, assuming that he was unaware of their true nature, as a man of God, and apparently the only one in town, why would giving his own daughters away be his first choice of action to protect two strangers?
2 | Lot righteous? | Gen 19:8 | Hank | 186433
Hmmm...interesting. Just dropping in to dump a question or two on the unsuspecting weavers of this thread :-) ..... Righteous is a word we see bandied about quite a bit. What does it mean to be righteous? Does it mean something different now from what it did in Lot's time? And how does one become righteous? Is it something he does for himself or something that God does for him? We've all a handy tool box of opinions, of course, but let's put it aside and talk about what the Bible teaches on this thing called righteousness. --Hank
