Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. Ps 1:3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. Meditating is the missing factor in much of this forums posts and answers. The Kabbalah is the study of each letter of each verse of each book of the Torah. he mystic allows each letter to penetrate his being so that the law of God becomes the law of being. Let's look at meditation: Broader: think ,cogitate, cerebrate Narrower:premeditate, theologize, theologiseintrospect, bethink, cogitate, brood, worry, dwell, wonder, question, puzzle, study, consider Meaning: Think intently and at length, as for spiritual purposes. Synonyms: study, contemplate So do you meditate or instigate? Instigate: To stir up; foment I meditate because by my posts I show: reflection, study, questioning, and consideration of different views. The majority of this forum is opposed to meditation because they do not approve of: Questioning and consideration or Theologizing of any scripture. |

Greetings Electionresults! Since you posed this as an open question, may I address it? First of all, why only list two options? Your question reminds me of the old joke about the man who was asked, 'Are you still beating your wife?' No matter the answer, the man can't win. :-) So, rather than responding to an obvious trick question, I would ask you to examine your own meditation. According to the definition you cited above for meditation, it includes study. When dealing with the words of the Old and New Testaments, we are dealing with words that have historical contexts. For instance, if we look up the words for 'eunuch' (that you mentioned in an earlier post) we would find that none of the terms were every used historically to refer to homosexuality. Yet, in your 'meditation' on this word, you propose this an an acceptable meaning of the word; thereby, twisting Scripture to say that which you want it to say. Is this really 'meditation' or is it 'eisgesis'? I know, this is a trick question. :-) I can't speak for anyone else my friend, but I have no problem with questioning or consideration of other views. But, I do have a problem with pulling theological rabbits out of thin air, without any historical evidence to support them. One final word about meditation! If the Law of God is to become part of us, than we must obey what it actually says, not what we would like it to say. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I think I have to say Amen to Tim's statement. Meditation is very good but like with all things in this world, we really need to aim for balance. The single most important aspect I see in Christ's life that is most needed in this world is tolerance. There's literally a multitude of backgrounds and a myriad of spiritual maturities reflected on this Forum. We have to learn to see between the lines and try to get the actual intent of these messages. I agree that there is just a little bit of anger and frustration exhibited in some of these statements but overall this is a very good and productive Forum. Enjoy it and God bless. | ||||||
