1 | Prophetic perfect tense in other verses? | Ps 102:16 | Hank | 99879
Candy Lee - May I intrude? I'd like to ask you to reconsider the use of the King James Bible by the 9 - 12 age group. Many of us oldsters grew up in a time when the King James was not merely the version of choice; it was the only choice. I dare say that I am none the worse for having used the KJV from my youth. It taught me priceless spiritual truths to be sure -- and continues to teach me still. But it also taught me to read, understand, and appreciate the beauty and music of our native English tongue. It remains far more literary than almost any other Bible translation in English. Kids' minds are quick and their learning ability is keen. I see no earthly reason why a child of average intelligence, with minimal tutoring, would find it above his ability to read the King James with relative ease and understanding. The small investment of effort will reward him for a lifetime. A young mind stretched a bit by the effort to master Elizabethan English will never shrink back to the size it was beforehand! --Hank

I fully agree with you. I have always used a JKV. The two children I am working with now both have a language barrier. They need something they can better understand. I have a KJV that is over 150 years old and it reads different than the KJV I have now. I don't use it because it is VERY FRAGILE. My husband has promised to make me a case for it. It belonged to someone in my maternal grandfathers family. Candy Lee
