1 | Prophetic perfect tense in other verses? | Ps 102:16 | candy lee | 99852
I have studied with Jehovah Whitness and I see much truth in their teachings and I also see much error. When I read from any bible I like to compaire it with the KJV. I am afraid of all these other translations. Unless you take the time to look up the Hebrew or Greek meanings of every scripture what bible is the most correct? I know people who use the NWT and when I have studied with them they will always believe it over the KJV. What translation do you recommend for a youth? I'm looking for something for a child ages 9-12. They have a hard time with the KJV. Thanks. Candy Lee
2 | Prophetic perfect tense in other verses? | Ps 102:16 | Makarios | 99874
Greetings Candy Lee! The New World Translation, or NWT, completely denies the Deity of Jesus Christ (as the Jehovah's Witnesses do), which is THE basis for the Christian faith!! If you do not believe that Jesus Christ was and is and forever will be God; equal in power to God the Father but a distinct Person than Him, then you simply are not a "Christian." As far as recommending a Bible translation for ages 9-12, I would recommend the new Holman Christian Standard Bible or the New International Version of the Bible. Both are extremely popular, and both are easy to read and understand, claiming a 7th grade reading level. I, myself, received an NIV Bible as my first ever Bible translation, easily reading it when I was very young. But I also received my first KJV shortly after. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |

3 | Prophetic perfect tense in other verses? | Ps 102:16 | candy lee | 100123
Thanks. I'll check out the Holman Christian Standard Bible. I was thinking about going with the NIV. They both already have a KJV and are having great difficulty with them. I've always used the KJV even as a child. Thanks. I think it is really sad that JW's deny Christ as God,equal in power to his Father, and the Great Comforter the Holy Spirit which is also God. You see, my best friend is a Jehovah's Witness. Thanks again. Candy Lee
4 | Prophetic perfect tense in other verses? | Ps 102:16 | Makarios | 100137
Greetings Candy Lee, Both the NIV and the Holman Christian Standard Bible [HCSB] are about the same, with the HCSB being just a bit more literal than the NIV. If I had to choose one over the other, I would pick the HCSB over the NIV, even though the Old Testament of the HCSB will not be available until 2004. Both claim a 7th grade reading level, and both are presented well and easy to read. Also, the Southern Baptist Denomination has adopted the HCSB as their primary Bible that they use in their devotional and Sunday School material. Hank provided a great suggestion by stating that you could rather seek to educate your kids in the language of the KJV! You may want to try this first. But, if it does not succeed, and goes as far as to discourage them from reading, then I would not force them to use the KJV, but introduce either the NIV or HCSB, to use with the KJV, letting them make their own choice! :-) Your best friend is a Jehovah's Witness? A good friend of mine is a Jehovah's Witness as well. But perhaps the Lord chose such a time as this to use you to share the truth about Christ to your friend. If your witness is rejected, then at least you can testify that you have truly done your part, and stood in the gap (Ezek. 22:30) where others fear to tread. I know what you are thinking! You want to keep your relationship with your friend! But never count out the Holy Spirit, because you could be surprised at what He can do through you! Blessings to you, Makarios |

A hearty heart felt A-men. The two children I need Bibles for are reading challenged. I really need something they can undrestand. Something on a third grade level. I do hope that one day my friend will understand what I have testified to. I want to see her in the new earth and Heaven as well. Thanks. Candy Lee
