1 | Why won't Calvinists answer directly??? | Job 38:1 | jg8ball | 1501
Not only did you not answer my question, you took a small portion of what I said, twisted it around and used it to start another topic. (I've been finding this very typical of people that believe that the doctrine of election refers to God choosing some to be saved and others not to be.) Since you asked about the reason for sharing Christ to others, I feel you've got the order wrong. We share Christ in hopes of bringing others to Him which will result in more people worshiping God. I back this up with the Great Commission (Matt 28:16-20) which tells us to go out and make disciples of all nations, teaching them everything about Jesus. |

2 | Why won't Calvinists answer directly??? | Job 38:1 | RElderCascade | 1555
I thought I made it clear that evangelism is to make disciples (converts). But since that result (belief) is not our job we are primarily responsible to tell the truth in an uncompromising way that may or may not convince people to become a Christian. We are not responsible to focus primarily on conversion. The focus is God's sovereign rule and His awesome perfections! not man's need to make a decision. No I don't have the command wrong, what benefit is there in focussing on conversion or discipleship? On the contrary there is every benefit to our participation to get our minds always on the grace of God, as it contrasts to man's sinful nature and eternal death. The real purpose of evangelism is to witness of the works and might of God, and only secondarily we focus on the conversion issues because we trust the harvest will be made by God. Hopefully you have noticed how consistant this is to God's choice of who is elect before the foundation of the world. God is the first cause. Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love Eph 1:5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Eph 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. And God is the only one who chose you too! |
