1 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | Norrie | 11626
How far should a woman have to go to submit to her husband? If he is physically or mentally abusive, surely she doesn't have to put up with that? What if it is a Christian woman and a non christian man? What if the man claims to be a Christian but is abusive towards his wife and children?

I just read a book on marriage and divorce. It said if a husband is abusive in anyway to leave, and ask the church for a divorce. It says not to ask the secular court until you've asked the church because the church is God's court. It also talks about the word "die". The bible says the only way you can remarry is if your spouse "dies" or for infidelity. The word "die" does not just mean physical death. It also means spiritual death. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit God told them they would 'surely die'. Adam and Eve lived for many years after that. God meant they were spiritually dead. If your husband is spiritually dead you have the right to a divorce and to remarry when the time is right. I don't remember the name of the book and it is at home and I am a work. I will post you the name tomorrow so you can read it if you like. It is filled with wonderful information all backed up back scripture. Also, keep in mind it did not say God commands us to get a divorce. He only gives us that option in certain cases. |

I want to thank everybody for their answers, I know they will be a help. I am asking for a friend, really! She has a family situation she is worried sick about and wants to know what to do. I'm sure there are others in the same situations. I just got an email from another friend who's daughter was in the same situation and the son-in-law committed suicide with half of the police force there so it must have been a grave situation. This just seems to be a prevelant need in so many cases, I just wanted to find some answers for my friends. Thanks again and keep any answers coming, no telling who may get helped.
